Task Force/Strike Team Leader - Division/Group Supervisor

Course Length

The course has a total duration of 76 hours and is divided in three distinct sections:

• Party "On-line": 54 hours

• Part "A Classroom Training": 40 hours

• Exercise in the simulator: 2 hours


To follow this course, you must be in possession of any of the following positions:

• Technical Director against Fires - Initial Attack Level

• Situation Unit Leader and resources or demonstrable equivalent experience


• After completing the course the student will have the ability to manage and implement appropriate tactics to different forest fire situations, with different resources, organized into strike teams or working groups

• Reach knowledge level of the roles and skills of a Head of Sector/ Division

• Use of risk management techniques to ensure complete tasks safely

• Obtain skills to set sectorization, roles and responsibilities, coordination of resources of different nature, aircraft operations and others with terrestrial devices/ units, abilities and limitations and tactical decisions

• Teaching on-line strategies course will be based on Flash presentations and access (links) to existing public documents on the Internet

• Teaching strategies of classroom training will be based on lectures eith an established format where the  Active School Instructor will offer to the students learning environments that encourage a resource-rich teamwork. It will therefore be centred on the learning student activity, through the resolution of different studies and exercises in teams
